Talk about a two-for-one! Not only did Kelsea Ballerini play a FREE show (thanks Country Fastball!), it was also the Grand Opening of Dierks Bentley’s Whiskey Row Gilbert! Not only is this location much larger than the others, it’s set up perfectly for live shows with plenty of room to dance. It has the classic Whiskey Row esthetic with a fun, backyard vibe thanks to the spacious patio. Next time you’re looking for the perfect brunch spot or a place to go on your next night out, don’t pass this new location up!
The best part of this show – aside from Kelsea Ballerini’s killer voice – was that it was not packed to capacity. Country Fastball did a great job at making sure we got to enjoy the new Whiskey Row location and a fun show, while not being packed like sardines. Always a plus in my book!
Kelsea took the stage at 7:30pm and after just a few moments, it was easy to see why she’s gotten so many recent nominations (and wins!). Her voice is amazing and was definitely made for singing live, especially in this setting. While she did have members of her band on stage with her, this set was a more stripped down acoustic one, letting us focus on her stellar vocals.
The show kicked off with Kelsea’s fun, hit single “Yeah Boy.” Throughout the night, she sang other familiar songs from her album such as “Peter Pan” and “Love Me Like You Mean It.” She also teased a couple of new songs from her upcoming album, one of which was “Roses” (finally!) which she teased a while back on Instagram.
Mixed into her set, she threw in some non-country covers. Between a story of heartbreak Kelsea sang a medley of Adele’s “Send My Love To Your New Lover”, James Bay’s “Let It Go”, Justin Bieber’s “Sorry” and One Republic’s “Apologize.” She also covered “Hotline Bling” by Drake and lead a sing-a-long of The Chainsmokers’ “Closer.”
Overall, I was very impressed by Kelsea, as this was my first time seeing her! Her voice, her stage presence, her bubbly personality… Everything was fantastic! She is someone to keep an eye out for in the country world.
Kelsea will be back to Arizona for Lady Antebellum’s You Look Good World Tour and you can also catch her at one of the many festivals going on this year!
Thank you Kelsea, Country Fastball and Whiskey Row Gilbert for the awesome night! Take a look at some more photos from the night!
