What's On My List

My Favorite Country Lyrics

When I was a little kid someone asked me whether it was the music or the lyrics that made me like a song. For me, that’s easy — the lyrics. The reason I love country music so much, and music in general, is that it tells a story. And then there are the lyrics that make you feel like you were a part of that story.

In no order, here are some of my favorite country lyrics of all time!

Some believe in destiny, and some believe in fate
I believe that happiness is something we create.
Sugarland || “Something More”

Never realized how much she brought to the table
Till I went to sit my cup of coffee where the table use to be
Eric Church || “Can’t Take It With You”

Selling beer to the locals, just barely getting by
On the tips from the rich kids, there on daddy’s dime
Tim McGraw || “Telluride”

But when did it become about who you know
And not about how good you are?
Kacey Musgraves || “Good Ol’ Boys Club”

And the interstate’s jammed with
Gunners like me afraid of coming in last
Keith Urban || “Days Go By”

She wants to wear my shirt to bed
She wants to make every stray a pet.
Dierks Bentley || “Feel That Fire”

For when it comes down to temptation
She’s on both sides of the fence.
Garth Brooks || “She’s Every Woman”

You can be my tan-legged Juliet,
I’ll be your Redneck Romeo.
Jason Aldean || “My Kinda Party”

You don’t need to make a million
Just be thankful to be workin’.
Montgomery Gentry || “Something To Be Proud Of”

I’m walking, talking, drinking proof
A cliché in a corner booth.
Tyler Farr || “A Guy Walks Into a Bar”

Took the hourglass, left the sand
Now you got time on your hands.
SHeDAISY || “Little Good-Byes”

Just go and grab someone you wanna see in a bathing suit
And drive until the map turns blue.
Brad Paisley || “Water”
